A lonely watchtower guards the coast of Oslob. The watchtowers that line the southeastern coast of Cebu was a product of the desire of Fr. Julian Bermejo in the 19th century to provide a defense network for Cebu against invading Moros. This system would culminate in Boljoon, then the center of the defense network in the Visayas.
